Late night post

So this is probably equivalent to drunk dialing, which I've never done, but then again, I probably shouldn't be posting this late either. The problem, and potentially the blame, lies with DrunkCyclist.com. I completely blame my buddy and sponsor Stephen (it's as if he and his wife adopted me like one of Sally Struthers' Feed the Children) for turning me onto this site. Anyways, DC has a lot of, whatdoyoucallit, left leaning material and links as well as biking stuff, and of course, porn. Porn always helps. Seeing how I'm up late most nights, I end up reading this at midnight or later, and a lot of it tends to rile me up. Like reading an article from Fox News about how close we really are to coming to blows with Iran, or about how this 21,500 person troop surge is in all actuality closer to 40,000 because of all the support people that need to go along. Today there was linked a nice little blurb from Kurt Vonnegut an excerpt of his memoir so to speak, now I've never been a big fan of his writing but he's pretty dead on with this one, more or less talking about the turbulent waters this administration had led us into, and how we're the modern day Nazi's. Really quite depressing stuff. I swear it's going to lead me to drink, or at least drink more. Why do I do this to myself you might ask? I'm a sucker. Perhaps there really is this idealistic notion that lies deep inside of me that hopes that eventually more people in this country are going to wake the fuck up and we'll actually have a shot at undoing this damage before it goes to far. Then you read about how once again the Democratic Congress has caved into the Republicans because they want to pass this bullshit resolution condemning Bush's plan to send more troops into harms way, even though it's a watered down, pansy ass excuse for a condemnation. Or maybe this is what the Democratic Senators really feel. Maybe they don't really give a shit whether 3,084 more of our young men and women die over there or another 23000 more get injured. Perhaps they're just in politics cause they like to feel important. If there is a God, God help us, cause we're fucked. We're hoping the Democrats are going to get us out of trouble and they can't even get a strongly worded resolution together because they don't think they'll be able to get it passed. They're in the majority and they're still caving in to the Republicans. I'm getting all wound up right now. If I hadn't just shaved my head I'd be ripping hair out. This is what happens when I read politics all day. I need a drink. At least the chicken-fried steak was good.
