Question...

Happy New Year's and all that, but here's a question for everyone. What does it say about our society that our news media is giving more attention to the hanging and sensationalistic photos of the dead Saddam, than to the death of one of our Presidents? Now I know very little about Gerald Ford's policies, I don't really know where he stood on issues important to me, but I do know that he appeared to be the last good person the Republican's ever put in the White House. To me it appears that he was truly interested in the health of the nation as a whole, not select groups, and perhaps he didn't go about it the right way, but the pardon of Nixon was both important and courageous. I read somewhere yesterday that there was only about 5 or 6 Senators and only 30 or so Congressmen who showed up for the viewing of his casket as it lied in state. I realize that it's the holidays and all, but how many people showed up when Reagan died? It's a sign of lack of respect that I think shows what type of people our Senators and Congressman are. To top it all off, the amount of time and space that was quickly turned over to pics of Saddam with a noose around his neck instead of giving our thoughts and prayers (if you believe in that sort of thing) to a man who spent his life serving OUR country was appalling in my book. Thank you Gerald Ford for serving our country, and f*ck you to all the news media who are more interested in ratings than in potentially allowing for some intelligent thoughts or ideas to pass over the airways. Happy New Year's and may this one be better for us and the world.
